NEW YORK, September, 2025 – MetroPlusHealth, New York City’s high-quality, affordable health care plan, proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Jackson Heights community office – marking a decade of partnership, progress, and impact in one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

The anniversary event brought together community members and local partners for an afternoon of reflection, appreciation, and connection.  Attendees enjoyed live music and refreshments.

Since opening its doors in 2015, the Jackson Heights office has helped nearly 50,000 residents enroll in health coverage, access care, and navigate complex health systems. From assisting new immigrants with language-accessible enrollment to helping families find pediatric care and seniors manage chronic conditions, the office has become a cornerstone of community health.

“As we mark MetroPlusHealth’s 10-year anniversary in Jackson Heights, we’re filled with gratitude for the community partners, elected officials, and neighbors who have trusted us with their care,” said Dr. Talya Schwartz, President and Chief Executive Officer, MetroPlusHealth. “Together, we’ve built a stronger, healthier community by putting people before profit—breaking down barriers and expanding access to care. This milestone is a moment to reflect, celebrate, and look ahead to the next decade of service.”

Open more than 50 hours a week, including evenings and weekends, the Jackson Heights office is designed to meet the needs of working families and individuals with busy schedules. On-site enrollment coordinators provide one-on-one assistance, helping residents choose the right plan, understand their benefits, and get answers to questions in multiple languages including Spanish, Bengali, and Mandarin.

“I want to congratulate our amazing MetroPlusHealth partners on their 10th anniversary serving our wonderful Jackson Heights neighborhood,” said Dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst.  “We appreciate all you do for our patients, and we look forward to continuing our shared mission of providing high-quality healthcare in our diverse, thriving community.”

The office has also played a critical role during times of crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, staff helped residents access testing, vaccines, and telehealth services, while continuing to enroll thousands in coverage despite citywide shutdowns.

“For the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of standing by our neighbors in Jackson Heights—especially through challenging times like the COVID pandemic. Our commitment has always been, and continues to be, providing accessible healthcare so that every New Yorker feels supported on their health journey,” said Roger Milliner, Chief Growth Officer, MetroPlusHealth. “We’re honored to keep serving this vibrant community and working together to address its social needs.”

As MetroPlusHealth looks ahead, it remains focused on deepening its local partnerships, expanding culturally responsive care, and continuing to meet the evolving needs of Jackson Heights and beyond.
